Delhi Public School, Durgapur celebrated the 150th birth anniversary of the legendary leader-Mahatma Gandhi, this day is also celebrated as International Day of Non-violence. The programme, on virtual platform, initiated with the 15th century bhajan‘Vaishnav e jana toh’ performed by the students of classes 5-11. The Principal of the school, Shri Umesh Chand Jaiswal, emphasised in his speech that it is time to reinforce the beliefs of Gandhiji and reflect with earnest zeal their impact on our lives and lead a simple life with high principles for a radiant future. The children of classes 2_12 enacted a drama which showcased Gandhiji’s childhood, incidents at South Africa and various important events like Champaran Movement, Salt Satyagraha and Swadeshi movement. The pre-primary children participated in the programme dressed up as ‘Bapu’ with equal ardour, which was followed by dance performances by the students of classes 2-12 . HOD of the English Department, Smt Enakshi Dutta, announced the release of annual school ,e-magazine ‘SHADES’, and expressed her hope that this would help the young minds to understand and incorporate the views of Gandhiji. The programme was concluded with the vote of thanks by the school Head Boy, Sankritya Thakur. The live streaming of the programme on face book was greatly appreciated by the students and the parents.
