Republic Day
Delhi Public School, Durgapur celebrated the 74th Republic Day with a great deal of patriotic zeal and exuberance. The day started with unfurling of the Tricolour by the Principal Sh. Umesh Ch. Jaiswal, along with the honourable Chief Guest, Brig Tarun JK Ohri. Their august presence elevated the patriotic fervour and sombreness of the occasion.This was followed by the National Anthem. The welcome song urged the patriotic ardour as the students took pride in glorifying the spirit of unity. The Principal’s speech evoked a sense of responsibility and dutifulness amongst the young minds. The dance performance by the Bulbul’s showcased love for our Motherland. The skit entitled ‘Veer Sahabzaade’, was highly inspirational to all, as it depicted the tales of Fateh Singh and Zorawar Singh, whom we reminisce as the ‘Veer’ martyrs of our nation. This was followed by a group recitation in Bengali. The entire audience basked in patriotic fervor as the event reached its culmination when students brought the stage alive through a captivating dance performance on a medley of patriotic songs. The Chief Guest, Brig Tarun JK Ohri, graced the occasion and extended his warm greetings, while inspiring the students to realize and cherish our democracy and work towards a progressive nation, with a healthy mind in a healthy body. ‘PRAYAS’ the social service club of the school has presented a treadmill, a Kent water filter, a static cycle to the NGO-‘Asar Aalo’ that takes care of the specially abled children. The programme ended with the vote of thanks presented by the activity co-ordinator, Payel Roy.
