On the occasion of 162nd birth anniversary of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore, the management, staff and students of Delhi Public School, Durgapur celebrated Rabindra Jayanti as a tribute to the Bengali polymath.
The programme started with the lighting of the lamp and the welcome song’Hey Nutan’ sung by the school choir. Through his speech, the Principal of the school, Sri Umesh Chand Jaiswal not only paid his tribute to Rabindranath Tagore but also reminded us of the huge responsibility to carry forward the great cultural tradition left by the visionary. The students from IX and XI presented a meaningful and thoughtful skit on a soulful poem from Gitanjali, spreading the message of love and sacrifice. The tiny tots of Preprimary added soul to the program with their mesmerizing dance performance on ‘Phule phule dhole dhole’. At the end the dancers of DPS, portrayed Gurudev’s connection with Nature and its beauty with a scintillating dance performance on ‘Ritu Rongo.’The programme ended with the vote of thanks by the Head Boy of the school, Avik Singha Roy. The whole programme was a spectacular event to look out for and ended, keeping the spirit of Tagore in our hearts and minds.
